Full Review: Why the Amex EveryDay® Preferred Credit Card Became My Favorite Daily Card

I didn’t expect a rewards card to be this flexible. But this one rewards how I actually spend — and that’s what makes it a long-term keeper.

When I signed up for the Amex EveryDay® Preferred Credit Card, I was looking for something better than a basic cash back card — I wanted something that made daily spending more rewarding without needing to book luxury travel to see value.

What first caught my eye was the 50% points bonus.
If you make 30 or more purchases in a billing cycle, you get a 50% boost on all the points you earned that month.
Since I use my card regularly — groceries, gas, coffee, subscriptions — hitting 30 swipes is easy.

The base rewards are solid: 3X points at U.S. supermarkets (up to $6,000/year), 2X at U.S. gas stations, and 1X on all other purchases.
Add the 50% multiplier, and suddenly you're earning 4.5X, 3X, and 1.5X respectively — that’s competitive even with premium travel cards.

I also like that there’s no need to activate rotating categories or track complex reward calendars.
The bonus rates are automatic and consistent — so I always know what I’m earning.

The $95 annual fee is reasonable and easy to recover if you use the card consistently. I cover it through reward redemptions within the first few months every year.

Since this card earns Membership Rewards® points, I have flexible redemption options — travel transfers, Amazon purchases, gift cards, or statement credits.
I personally use mine toward flights through Amex Travel and have transferred points to Delta and Air France with great value.

The Amex app is also one of the best — I get real-time alerts, can freeze the card instantly, and access Amex Offers for statement credits and partner deals.
Plus, the added protections like extended warranty and purchase protection are peace of mind extras I actually use.

If you’re someone who uses your card multiple times a day and wants to rack up flexible points fast, this card makes a lot of sense. It’s not about luxury — it’s about rewarding the way you already live.

If you make 30 or more purchases in a billing cycle, you automatically receive a 50% points bonus on all rewards earned during that period.

You earn 3X points at U.S. supermarkets (up to $6,000/year), 2X points at U.S. gas stations, and 1X on other purchases.

Yes — Membership Rewards® points can be transferred to over a dozen airline and hotel partners for maximum travel value.

Yes — the card has a $95 annual fee, but frequent use and the 50% bonus can easily offset the cost.

Absolutely. The bonus rewards structure is designed for people who use their card often — even for small purchases like coffee, groceries, or gas.
